U16s play well in win over Harborough

U16s: Rugby Lions 38 Market Harborough 7

Last weekend’s game had the appearance of a match between two well-drilled and disciplined teams. However, there were defensive errors on both sides early on. Lions collected the ball from the kick off and stormed up the pitch with some impressive running from the backs which enabled Ciaran Wardle to score within three minutes, converted by Chris Easton.

Harborough then advanced at speed finding a corner hole following a penalty. As both teams had received a wakeup call the game settled into a midfield battle.

Lions found scoring easier as both Patrick Mills and Luke Townsend scored. Chris Easton’s conversion closed the half at 19-7.

The midfield skirmish continued as Ciaran Wardle scored a well contested try, converted by Josh Cooke.

Patrick Mills added another ten minutes later. Just before the whistle Ed Spencer weaved his way through the field for the final try, converted by Josh Cooke.
