RUGBY: Who's playing where this weekend
Exciting end to the season in prospect
After last weekend’s break from league action, rugby resumes on Saturday with four away fixtures.
In Midlands 1 East, third-placed Newbold travel to Bugbrooke, who are currently ninth. And Old Laurentians, after wins in their last two games have lifted them off the bottom of the table, travel to seventh-placed Paviors.
Newbold are in the running for the play-off place and if they can maintain their form winning at Bugbrooke and the following week at Matlock, the crucial game will be at Parkfield Road on April 2 against second-placed Derby.
After that Newbold travel to Huntingdon & District on April 9 and finish the season at Ilkeston on April 16.
Old Laurentians have a tough run-in, hosting Bedford Athletic (April 2) and Derby (April 16) and visiting Bugbrooke on April 9.
Rugby Lions face their penultimate fixture in Midlands 3 West (South) when Cheltenham North are their hosts. A win on Saturday will set up a thrilling end to the season on April 16.
As it stands at the moment, Evesham lead the table with 75 points, Southam and Lions are level on 71 and fourth-placed Ledbury have 63.
Lions host Ledbury in their final game, while Southam host Evesham. There are two promotion spots.
Rugby St Andrews have a trip to Dunstablians this weekend, where fifth hosts sixth in Midlands 3 East (South). And it’s local derby time on April 2 when Saints welcome third-placed Long Buckby to John Tomalin Way.
Rugby Welsh don’t have a league game this weekend, but host Midlands 5 West (South) league leaders Five Ways Old Edwardians at Alwyn Road on April 2.
In the meantime, Old Eds host second-placed Keresley this weekend. Old Eds are top with 59 points, Keresley on 58 (but having played one game more) and Welsh have 53 points.
Welsh finish the season away at Trinity Guild on April 16.
