Spence’s call-up is proud moment for OLs

Old Leamingtonians back-rower Caroline Spence has spent her first weekend at a Midlands ladies’ development camp having been selected for the divisional squad.

Spence represented Warwickshire in three fixtures in the run-up to Christmas and was nominated to attend a divisional selection day by the county manager following promising displays.

Twenty-three-year-old Spence has only been playing rugby for five years having started during her fresher’s year at Warwick University.

In addition to representing the university, she started training with Old Leamingtonians in her final year and, following graduation 18 months ago, started playing regularly at The Crofts.

A committed forward, Spence can play in both the second row and back row and is an excellent lifter in line-outs. She is also a powerful ball-carrier with exceptional pace and agility.

Old Leamingtonians’ head coach Gemma Lewis said: “We are extremely proud to have one of our players selected for divisional rugby.

“Caz has a natural talent for the game and is an asset to our squad and theirs.”
