Chalfont St.Peter 0 Rugby Town 3

Rugby completed the regular season with a comfortable win over their mid-table hosts at Mill Meadow.

Chalfont started well, with keeper Dave Bevan having to be alert in the very first minute to a decent shot from Chalfont captain Daniel Hughes, and the same player went close again shortly after.

However Rugby then took the lead with their first chance of the game when Seb Lake-Gaskin fired home from twenty yards after David Kolodynski’s neat flick had found him in space.

Chalfont responded though, with both Lucille Brook-Smith and Alan Hedley having shots at goal - the latter striking the bar.

At the other end, keeper Michael Power-Simpson’s double block save from Kolodynski prevented his side from going into the break two adrift.

In the second half, Valley did extend their lead though with a great individual goal from Fazel Koriya, who seized on a sloppy pass before rounding the keeper to slot home.

Town were now in control, with the home side mainly restricted to long range efforts.

Substitute Michael Williams shot when it looked better to pass, and Sam Youngs also put one agonisingly wide.

In the fifth minute of added-time, Rugby were awarded a penalty when Kolodynski was upended in the area. The striker duly scored from the spot, sending the keeper the wrong way to round off a 31st campaign victory.
