Welsh side’s international class helps them overwhelm Royal Leamington Spa

Only Donna Kerr stemmed the tide, skipping Janice White, Roger Hampson and Barry Connolly to a 23-16 win.

Hide AdThe loss followed hot on the heels of another defeat for Leamington, albeit much closer, with their men going down to a 115-94 loss at Bidford.
Eddy Arnett made his first appearance of the season to help Dick Allibon (23-13) to the highest winning rink for the visitors, with Bill Edkins (23-19) securing Spa’s only other rink.
Rinks were shared when Leamington’s women entertained St Barbaras.
However, it was the visitors who took the spoils 72-64.
Sonia Stranks had the honour of the highest winning rink for Spa after skipping a 17-12 success, with Jenny Wickens’ triple coming out on top 15-12.

Hide AdWCC Staff were overwhelmed 110-80 by Whitnash in a six-rink, mixed friendly, losing four of the six rinks.
Les Collins (17-14) and Ken Dorsett (19-16) saved face for Staff after home wins for Ken Sloan (18-14), Les Clarkson (18-8), Graham Cluff (28-8) and Bill Wright (16-14).
Lillington suffered a six-shot defeat at Three Spires, despite winning three of the six rinks.
Nigel Roach skipped a 22-7 for the highest winning rink, while Malcolm Welch (21-18) and Mike Kelly (24-15) were also successful. However, a 33-8 reverse for Nick Simmonds’ rink proved crucial.

Hide AdWarwickshire Vice-presidents’ captain-for-the-day Alan Bister was rewarded with a 29-shot success for his team against the Royal Household at Windsor.
Brian Hunt also had cause to celebrate, featuring in the highest winning rink alongside Martyn Evans, Ted Amos and Mike Gilks on his 70th birthday.
