Wherefore art thou Romeo?

RUGBY Theatre is on the hunt for a Polish-speaking Romeo to take part in an innovative bilingual production of a Shakepseare classic.

Romeo and Juliet will hit the stage in May as part of the RSC Open Stages project.

The Montagues will be Polish and the Capulets English with about 20 per cent of the play being in Polish. The rest of the play has been cast including Monika Rozanski as Lady Montague and Jakub Kaczmarek as Balthasar.

Philippa Cottle (pictured, centre) fought off fierce competition to take the title role of Juliet and she heads up a strong cast from Rugby Theatre.

Director Robert Sloan said: “Rehearsals begin at the end of February. We just need to find our Polish Romeo and then we are set to go, I am sure he is out there somewhere”.

Auditions for Romeo will be held on January 16. For more information email Robert-sloan@hotmail.com or eve.love@wp.pl
