AJ’s, Dunchurch Road, Rugby: Music from indie and rock covers band Sound Effects, July 10, as part of the bar’s Live Music Friday series. Other bands wishing to play at the fornightly music nights can leave their details at the bar.
Crick Music Festival: Back for a fifth year, Crick Music Festival looks set to be another record breaker this weekend. The line-up of 14 mainly local bands and artists that will perform over both Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon until the evening each day will cover many genres of music including rock, punk, ska, pop, folk and even skiffle. The family event is free entry for all and will be off Bury Dyke in Crick where there will be plenty of entertainment and stalls as well as a BBQ and beer tent.Headlining the event on the Saturday are Worcestershire band Ronin. Afternoon concert with tea and cake:
The Heathcote Sextet will be performing at All Saints’ Church, Leamington Hastings on Sunday at 3pm. The sextet are all studying music at either the Royal Northern College of Music or Manchester University and were founded by James Heathcote, who attends both institutions. James, who is a former member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, lives in Newton and left Lawrence Sheriff School last year. The group are playing Sextet no 1 by Brahms and Souvenir de Florence by Tchaikovsky. The concert will last about an hour and is followed by a delicious tea with home made cakes. Tickets are £10 adults and £5 children on the door.

The Zephyr Band Rugby: New members welcome. The Zephyr Wind Band has been playing in the community for the last ten years. It is hoping to recruit new players of a modest standard for Wind and Brass instruments, and a new drummer. The band meets on a Thursday evening during school terms at 7.30pm at the United Reform Church next to the Recreation Ground Sports Centre, Hillmorton Road.
